FOAM MATTRESS TOPPERS - Toppers and mattresses
Foam mattress toppers "work with" mattresses, but they are not a substitute for a badly worn or failing mattress.
Important note
If your mattress is damaged, lumpy, has broken springs, is lop sided, has failing ticking, contains tears, or has any other damage, a foam mattress topper WILL NOT restore your sleeping surface.
No foam mattress topper, however good or expensive, can act as a substitute or band-aid for a poor mattress. A good mattress topper can however work with a mattress to provide some additional sleeping qualities.
When a mattress topper will be of benefit
If you own a good mattress that shows no signs of damage or deterioration, then a foam mattress topper may offer you some extra comfort or support if one or more of the following are true.
- 1. Your mattress feels too hard and you would like a softer more padded sleeping surface.
- 2. Your mattress is firm and does not shape or mould itself to the contours of the human body – and this is what you would like.
- 3. You would like an extra layer of comfort and padding.
- 4. You would like a mattress topper as a protector or life extender for your mattress.
- 5. You want to benefit from one of the modern technology based mattress topper materials like visco elastic memory foam.
- 6. You want to include magnetic therapy in your sleeping area by adding a magnetic mattress topper.
- 7. You have a non hypoallergenic mattress and you want to add a hypoallergenic topper for medical reasons.
- 8. You own a coil or spring based mattress and you would like to give it the properties of a composite mattress by adding memory or Latex foam.
