FOAM MATTRESS TOPPER - Other foam fillings
Today it is almost impossible to buy a foam mattress topper filling composed of anything other than Latex foam or, more probably, visco elastic memory foam.
Other foams do however exist and polyester micro fibres are probably one of the most popular. These polyester fibres may be used as an independent filling, or as a secondary filling working with another material like memory foam.
Micro fibre toppers are hypoallergenic and are ideal for those with allergies. They are soft and compressible.
Siliconised polyester is another synthetic mattress topper filler material. It is soft, compressible and will add an extra layer of support to any mattress.
Summary
With the emergence of visco elastic memory foam and Latex foam, combined with a strong move away from synthetic foams, polyester foams and other sponge like foams have all but disappeared. There disappearance is also supported by the fact that the newer foams provide a superior level of comfort and support and at only a small increase in price.
For those who do not wish to use a memory foam or Latex foam mattress topper, the organic alternatives are duck or goose feathers or down, along with organic wool.
